The Site

Updated: Apr 11, 2008

Oceanus-Anima.com is my personal online dwelling where I can explore my weird and crazy ponderings of the Internet, music, books, the world, humans and life (specific enough?!). I’m not trying to sound like a toffee-nosed poofy lion here, by the way!

This website is not here to make me money, make you money, excel your life (or mine!). It’s simply a public outlet for the curious tidbits that enter my thoughts. I can’t promise that they will be life-altering, awe-inspiring or indeed particularly useful to you. They won’t be. All I hope is that you read something that makes you think, question, grow curious about, and most importantly laugh. Because, there is nothing more pleasant to the ear than laughter…

So there you have it. The purpose of this website. Sort of. *laughs*

L’Histoire

Oceanus-Anima.com is the third domain I’ve owned. Before domains I used such free services as geocities, topcities, and freewebs, to name those I can remember at least!

My previous two domains were:

  1. mystical-illusion.com : 2004 - 2005 I never meant to have lost this domain, but when I changed hosts things went wonky, and to this day this domain has become one of those advertising/fake search sites. Had I been able to not lose it, I’m sure I’d still be using it today.
  2. perfect-storm.org : 2005 - 2006 I was then faced with hosting paid with a new host, and no domain! Feeling bitterly disappointed I felt the end of my web presence coming to an end. My host enlightened to tell me I had a free domain registration to use.The name had nothing to do with the film (I have yet to see it). However, I never felt entirely comfortable with said name, and so didn’t put all my effort into the website.

When it came round to renewing my second domain I wasn’t feeling particularly impressed with my host either. It wasn’t bad, I just wasn’t receiving a whole lot to work with (webspace and bandwidth).

So yet again, I switched hosts, to my current provider, DreamHost, and decided it was the perfect time to break free from the domain I never took to.

Oceanus-Anima.com was born! It’s latin (a language I’ve always wished to learn). Oceanus means ‘ocean’ and anima means ’soul’ (etc). Nifty.

Below you can have a look-see at the layouts/themes my three domains opened with. These aren’t all the themes I’ve used (lord no!) but it’s interesting to see what they looked like when they first entered the world wide web…
